Welcome to Mae Reilly Nutrition!

I am so happy you are here. I’m Mae, a Registered Dietitian based in the Boston area. As a working mom of three littles, I know just how busy life can get and how difficult it can be to prioritize your own wellness and self care. I am here to empower you to make sustainable changes to help achieve your health and wellness goals. Together we will find practical solutions and ensure you have the tools and support you need to be successful.

I spent the first decade of my nutrition career as an oncology dietitian working one on one with thousands of people during their cancer journey. Eight of those years were spent at Dana Farber Cancer Institute here in Boston, the number one cancer center in New England. This role will always hold a special place in my heart and I am so grateful to have served as a trusted resource for my patients and their caregivers during such a difficult time in their lives. While oncology nutrition remains a passion of mine, after starting a family and becoming a mom, my focus started shifting. I saw first hand how difficult it was to juggle it all: work, friends, self care, feeding myself and my family. Oftentimes all on very little sleep.  As someone who once described the kitchen as “my happy place”, I started to dread meal planning and grocery shopping because I was so tired of being the one who decided what everyone was going to eat during the week. I was burned out and feeling uninspired.  That’s when I started to develop some tools and strategies that helped  decrease the decision fatigue I was facing. I chose to focus on small, practical actions that would have big impacts. After a while, these actions have become habits and I was able to use some of my mental energy to be creative in the kitchen again. Sure there are still nights our family has breakfast for dinner, or the kids eat a box of Annie’s mac and cheese and my husband and I order take out after bedtime, but that’s the thing. It’s about balance, not perfection. And no matter what season of life you are in, whether you have kids or are a busy professional,  I can help you achieve that balance so you can feel your best and build a lifestyle you are proud of.

My Philosophy

Our relationship with food goes far beyond the nutrients it provides to our body. It’s how we connect, celebrate, and take care of our loved ones. It’s how we honor our culture and relive childhood memories, often filled with family recipes and traditions. I believe we can find a way to make all foods fit whether it’s pasta at a Sunday family dinner, a fresh salad from your garden, or your favorite dessert. I also believe that nutrition plays a key role in our health and can help prevent or manage many health conditions. However, there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach.  I will get to know you as a whole person, understanding your relationship with food and where you are in  your health and wellness journey. We will find an eating pattern that works for YOU as an individual based on your unique lifestyle.
